Sometimes, it may be hard to resist those eyes! My vet (and the "boys" other mother) Dr. Susan Lewis recommends pumpsicles! She suggests you take canned pumpkin and put it into ice trays and they make a delicious and nutritious cool treat for your dog...without all those pesky calories.
Yummmm....pumpsicles!!!!
....and then there's

This guy has nothing to do with pumpsicles, but it made me smile.

Some special adoptions.

Just a quick update. I see that little sweet faced Charley was adopted today! Also, Pebbles (the little guy that I walked last week) and Simon. I was going to highlight Simon, because he had something very special about him, but I hadn't had the opportunity to walk him.

Charley
Sweet Charley is a large dog packed into a small guys body. He has a marvelous face and attitude!

Pebbles was a fur ball that enjoyed walking the big dogs path. I believe that he is a heart worm survivor!!
Pebbles is a SURVIVOR!

Oh, darn, I didn't get a picture saved of Simon, so I will have to describe him. Simon  is a boxer mix with tons of energy. He would bark and carry on whenever he made eye contact with a human. THEN, he would leap, he was hysterical. He would leap on his bed , but he would get so much air that it appeared like he was jumping on a trampoline!!!!
The puppy wagon came in Friday and the puppies are starting to go quickly. Once a month (on average) the Rescue Waggin' comes with a truckload of puppies from down South. There are places where there are more puppies than people to adopt them, so HSHV brings them here and ALWAYS find matching families. Isn't that great!!
Wish I had pictures to share of the puppies...I will have to work on that!
(Sunday June 30)

Sorry to hear that it wasn't THIS Pebble that was adopted it ws a puppy from the puppy wagon. BUT, that means that this sweet face is still out there for anyone looking for a li'l cutie! Tanya

Tails from the DogBlog

Had a busy day following wagging tails today.  Now that I have a blog format, I will try to cover three different areas of my HSHV experience. One will be covering my walks. Two will be introducing new, interesting dogs and three will be about the dogs that were adopted. I will also try to review any of the dogs that we got any updates on!
First, dear Clarabelle is back. She is the very large female Rottweiler. She is such a sweetheart of a girl. I was sad to see her back and don't know the circumstances, but it's better that she is back in our care than not being cared for like a queen!
Clarabelle
The first dog today was Dixie. She is now on the quieter side of the shelter with a much bigger kennel. I had hardly any trouble at all with her, from leashing all the way to return. Dixie has the cutest little wiggly gait. She walks with the same side legs going forward at the same time. (I call this the "toochee~tooch). It always makes me start a song to the beat! Luckily, there is no audio, so I don't feel compelled to share. The words are very simple and only a dog can understand.
Miss Dixie Doodle
She is a reverse brindle. (Almost black with lighter "tiger" stripes)

Next, was Yogi. Yogi is so narrow, after walking the chunkier dogs..he looks so tiny! He has nice long ears. He is a lab mix, but is the color of a black bear. I had trouble harness him, as he is so narrow and squirmy, but we managed. When we walked in the front area, he rolled and scratched his back in the tall weeds. He did the leg kick thing, which is always ridiculous! He made me smile and I think he smiled, too!
Th Yog~ster!   (Yogi)

New one...up next...and whatta darlin'!!! His name is Charley and he is a boxer mix. Brindle, bob tail. He is a little powerhouse. He is only 9 months old, but knows sit, wait (kinda) and lay down. He sort of looks like a mini version of my boys!
Charley
My baby "Rham"
Anyway, I was very impressed with Charley's big dog attitude. He was very mature, yet, had all kinds of spunk! He probably only weighs about 30-35 lbs, but may get a little bigger.

Emma, the Beagle, is staying with the front desk, keeping them company. She really needed a walk, so a walk she would get.  I haven't walked this little miss yet, so we were virtual strangers. She didn't want me to plan the walk....I didn't know that about her! She wanted to be the route selector! When I was "in front" of her, she leaned back and made a sound that sounded like a "yipe/nope/uh~uh", so I returned to her side and waited for her to pick a direction and then merrily, merrily merrily life was , but a dream!!!
Emma (the official "route" selector)
Still had time for one more. The only dog that hadn't been out since the earliest walks was another "new" one her name is "Unique" and she is just that! She was kenneled by Dixie (when Dixie was on that side before her move). She looks like her, but she is jet black with similar face markings. Unique is very shy and submissive in her kennel. I was kind of worried about her, but when I went in to get her....she was super excited! jumpy, but (so far) not gettin' into the :goodies in my pocket! Put her harness on and as soon as we crossed the threshold of her kennel, she jumped for joy!!  She enjoyed getting up on all the seats and benches on our route. Our walk was very nice and she was very gracious to get back and give out those kisses!
Unique, is just that!

There were STILL small doggies that needed to get out one more time. There were three walkers still there and 5 little ones, so....I walked Pebble and Roscoe! No photo of Roscoe. They are small and walk very quickly!! So different than the "normal"size pooches.
Pebble

SO, that was my day! Thank you for visiting my DogBlog!! Please leave a comment, so I know that you "like" it!
Bye!

This is now my dog walking blog....or dog blog...blog walking....I'm new at this , so I hope there is some slack being cut! Today the handsome dog, Rock, was adopted. I walked him twice and the last time he buried his snout in my apron pocket , as I was harnessing him, and ate ALL of the treats!
Rock
Perfect snout to fit in my apron pocket!
